My job is not to look for the mistakes of others!

Updated: May 29, 2022

The story is about a female employee who belongs to the interior design group. She has been in the company for the third year.

She is currently asking a design outsourcing company in the Philippines for drawing work.

She works with a feeling of being busy, as if she is constantly overwhelmed by work.

Her overtime last month has exceeded 80 hours.

Returning home late every day, customary to commute to work every Saturday.

"Why are you so busy?"

Assigning a job to an outsourced design company doesn't better me.

She decided to consult with Kaizen Advisor.

She said, "First of all, one week's worth is enough, so let's visualize the current situation."

"You may not have the time to analyze the person-hours because you are busy,

At this rate, it will never be easier. "

The more manageable a city is what the advisor says. "Let's try it for a week first!"

After a week

She was even more shocked to see her business record for a week.

Since the total person-hours for this week was 62 hours, it took 75% to check the drawings.

I found out that I was there.

In other words, to check the 3D CAD drawings delivered from outsourcing

She spent 46 hours.

She checked the first delivered drawing and pointed out any corrections,

After she corrected, she checked the returned drawings again.

The person-hours billed by the subcontractor for the past week was 53 hours.

"If this is the case, it's faster to do it yourself."

He said he would show this number to Kaizen Advisor.

"I saw a problem."

"The job of checking does not add any value to information."

"Of course, customers wouldn't want to pay for the inspection."

"Let's improve this work to abolish it, not efficiency."

Basics of Toyota-style thinking:

The inspection does not change information, so it is a process with no added value

What to eliminate checks and inspections

She couldn't think of not checking.

The first thing that came to her mind was the scary face of the on-site chief engineer.

Even if you spend so much time, mistakes are still in a state of drooling.

It is supposed to cause a lot of trouble to the manufacturing site.

Her strong will to say, "Don't stay like this!" Came from my side.

"I want to do a better job" is precisely her Want to

Let's set the world of check zero as the goal!

And after this, I will challenge myself toward this goal.
